Okay, so I had some really awesome pictures of boiling my soap nuts into liquid soap, but they are no where to be found at the moment. Technology can be so helpful sometimes and beyond frustrating at others. I figure the LORD uses it to work out things in me
Anyway, when my soap nuts arrived from Nutz 4 Soap I thought that the only thing I could use them for was my laundry…
HOWEVER my amazing sister-in-law, Kelly printed up a packet of information and all the wonderful ways to use soap nuts.
It wasn’t before long that I discovered if I boiled my soap nuts in a pot on the stove to make liquid soap I could make ALL sorts of things:
- Mosquito repellent
- Liquid Hand Soap
- Shampoo
- Hand wash silks and delicates
- All purpose cleaner
- Steam Cleaning Spot Treatment
- Window and Glass Cleaner
- Dishwasher detergent
- Clean jewelery
- Give your pets a bath
- Wash your plants
- Repel Pests from your plants
You can do SO much with Soap Nuts and the BEST thing about it is it is 100% COMPLETELY NATURAL. They come right off the tree!
Other benefits of Soap Nuts are:
- You can use them in HE washers
- Relieve severe conditions like eczema and psoriasis (there are no chemicals to irritate skin!)
- They contain no bleaching agents
- Completely odorless
So what are soap nuts?
They actually aren’t nuts at all. They are berries that grow on trees.
There are Large Soap Nuts (Sapindus Mukorossi) and Small Soap Nuts(Sapindus Trifoliatus.)
The large berry is most commonly used for cleaning, however both are extremely effective.
How do they work as a detergent?
In the shell of the soap nut there is a large quantity of saponin which acts as a completley natural, gentle detergent when it comes into contact with water.
- no dyes
- no fragrances
- no need for fabric softeners
-perfectly safe for drains
What about allergies?
-Soap Nuts grow on trees and are chemical free and are 100% non-allergenic.
In my research of soap nuts I discovered that nearly everyone that had eczema and started using soap nuts it cleared up completely.
-Most allergic reactions are due to chemicals and fragrances found in commercial laundry detergents.
If you all are interested I can do a post in the future of how to use Soap Nuts in your laundry and make the above items….
But for now, if you’d like to be one of 10 winners for a package of soap nuts, please fill out the google doc attached in the form in the following link:
